THE HISTORY

OUR STORY

Learn about the history of Pengelly Farm and our journey in creating a brand-new, purpose-built wedding and events venue. Below, we’ve created a video to introduce the team behind Pengelly and how we have crafted a unique wedding venue with our couples in mind.

The

Farm

Pengelly Farm has been in the family for hundreds of years, predominantly as a Dairy Farm until moving into holiday cottages in 2011. We still have a small beef herd and crop, so you will often see Paul & Sue on the farm in-between weddings.

The

Family

Wenna & Pippa are one of 4 girls, and with a combined background in hospitality and corporate management, pursued the idea of creating a wedding venue to utilise the expansive views of the farm and keep the farming business in the family for another generation.

The

build

After a lot of research and several years of pre-planning processes, we submitted our planning application for a brand-new purpose-built wedding venue in 2019. We were successful in our application in 2020 and then applied for EU grant funding.

We were given the green light in early 2021 and in just 10 months we went from a muddy field to brand new wedding venue, opening the doors to the public in May 2022.

Reflecting on

2023

2023 saw our first full year of weddings and transition into private events. On top of this we had an exciting first awards season, taking home the Gold Award for New Business and Bronze Award for Wedding Venue from Cornwall Tourism Awards. We were also Runner Up for New Business with Westcountry Women Awards, a competitive category with over 1000 entries; and finalist for South West Wedding Awards
