A dairy farm for 4 generations before diversification
Fifth generation farmers
Paul has been farming Pengelly Farm his whole life, a majority of the time as a Dairy Farmer and giving this up in 2011. He took a steer towards diversification into holiday lets, converting the milk sheds and keeping a small beef herd.

The beginning of the Wedding Venue
The Barn at Pengelly
After a lot of research and pre-planning processes, we submitted our planning application for a brand new purpose built wedding venue in 2019. We were successful in our application in early 2020 and then applied for EU grant funding. This entailed extensive research and proposals, and the process took over 12 months. Then when we had the good news that we were successful, the build started in early 2021.....

Opening our doors
Fast forward 3 years later...
We all hit the ground running and the steel frame was erected in July 2021. 10 months of hard work, many tradesman, and even more late nights, we opened our doors for the first time on 8th May 2022 for our first ever Wedding Fair....

A successful first year
Picking up the pace
Our first year of weddings was a huge success, with 30 under our belt in less than 12 months, and many of our first couples booking the venue when it was literally a building site. We are now expanding into private events to enable us to keep a full-time team all year round
