A little over a year ago, we began work on a new addition behind the scenes at The Barn at Pengelly, our very own Kitchen Garden. What started as an idea to bring our catering even closer to home has grown into one of our favourite parts of the venue, and we are so excited to share how it has flourished. Why We Started Growing Our Own At Pengelly, our menus celebrate the very best of Cornwall, with ingredients sourced within a 25 mile radius wherever possible. The Kitchen Garden takes that philosophy one step further. We now grow a rotating selection of vegetables, herbs and fruit right here on the farm, harvested fresh and brought straight into our in-house kitchen for use across our seasonal wedding menus. It means our chefs are working with produce picked that same morning, and our menus naturally shift with the seasons, from early spring herbs through to late summer fruits. There is something wonderful about serving a dish to a couple and their guests knowing the vegetables on the plate were growing just a few steps from where they are sitting. A Beautiful Space in Its Own Right The Kitchen Garden is not just about what we grow. It has become a beautiful setting in its own right, with a wood fired pizza oven, picnic benches, and an optional outside bar for al fresco dining. Kitchen Garden Pizza Party Held the night before the wedding, this is a relaxed evening of wood fired pizzas cooked fresh in our clay oven. We offer a selection of classic and seasonal options, alongside fresh salads and sides, all enjoyed in the heart of the Kitchen Garden. It is the perfect way for couples and their close family and friends to unwind together before the big day, with good food, good company and zero stress. Kitchen Garden Breakfast The morning after the wedding, we offer a shared brunch in the same beautiful setting. Think fresh flatbreads straight from the wood fired oven, classic cooked breakfast options, granola, pastries, fruit and fresh juices. It is a gentle, sociable way to bring everyone back together one last time before saying goodbye, and a lovely bookend to the wedding weekend. More Than Just Weddings The Kitchen Garden is also available to hire for private events and parties, whether that is a relaxed family celebration, a birthday gathering or simply an evening with friends around the pizza oven. Looking Ahead This is only the beginning for our Kitchen Garden. As it continues to mature, we are looking forward to expanding what we grow and finding even more ways to bring it into our menus throughout the year. It is a project close to our hearts, and one that reflects what Pengelly is all about: thoughtful, seasonal, locally led food, served somewhere truly special. At The Barn at Pengelly, we wanted to make that part easy. Really easy. So, we created four in-house table styling packages that do the hard work for you. What's Included Each package includes charger plates, napkins, table runners, battery-powered taper candles and tea lights, and candle holders. Everything you need for a beautifully dressed table, all stored on-site at Pengelly, all set up by our team the day before your wedding. When you arrive on your wedding day, your tables are already done. All that's left is for your florist to add any floral arrangements if you've chosen to have them, and then it's ready. Four Styles to Choose From We've curated four distinct looks so there's something to suit every couple's vision. Classic is timeless, clean, and elegant. Light tones, simple lines, and a refined finish that works beautifully in any season. Boho brings in warmth and texture, earthy colours, relaxed layers, and the kind of effortless style that feels both thoughtful and unfussy. Garden is fresh, natural, and full of light. Perfect for couples who want their tables to feel like an extension of the outdoors, with a soft and organic feel. Vintage has character and charm, copper tones, delicate details, and a nostalgic warmth that makes every table feel like it has a story. Set Up the Day Before. Ready When You Arrive. Because your styling is stored on-site and set up by our own team the day before the wedding, there's no last-minute rushing, no coordinating with external hire companies, and no anxiety about whether everything will be ready in time. You arrive to a room that's already dressed. You walk in, take a breath, and enjoy it. Sustainable, Simple, and Better Value Our packages remove the stress of delivery charges, collection fees, and the logistical hassle of coordinating timings on one of the most important days of your life. Everything lives here. No delivery vans. No return collections. No hidden costs. It's also a more sustainable way to do things. Rather than couples buying items they use once and then try to resell or hire companies transporting the same items back and forth across the county, our pieces stay on-site and are used repeatedly.
